Attitudes Toward Differences

Recognizing how you feel about some differences and increasing awareness of your own attitudes can be a challenge. Everyone has preconceived notions. These notions are often related to our own cultural backgrounds, life experiences, or other characteristics such as age, race, religion, occupation, and so on.

Knowing your position and understanding where you stand in terms of your own beliefs is a crucial part of being able to form relationships with co-workers, customers, and others who are different from you.

Think about how we are unique and how we are alike. We all have different experiences and values, but we also have much in common as well. The unity of uniqueness and commonness is what makes us diverse.
