As universities strive to implement IPE into didactic, simulation, and experiential learning environments, it is becoming increasingly important to have outstanding IPE faculty facilitators who can help interprofessional learners gain the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for collaborative practice. The most successful and competitive institutions know how important it is to be committed to ongoing IPE facilitator training and development. The Texas IPE Consortium’s IPE Facilitator Certification Course provides faculty with the tools and strategies they need to engage interprofessional teams of learners and maximize the effectiveness of their IPE training programs.

This engaging, experiential course provides an overview of the role of the IPE faculty facilitator, plus opportunities for practice using a wide range of tools and techniques. Through 6 hours of online pre-work and a one-day live training, faculty will gain the knowledge and skills to be an effective IPE facilitator, as well as will be able to promote organizational changes and collaborative leadership, which will support the promotion of IPE within the institution.

Approximately 6 hrs of online pre-work must be completed at least 5 days prior to the virtual training.

Requirements: To obtain an IPE Facilitator Certificate, participants must complete the online pre-work before the event and actively participate in the entire virtual training, complete the simulation/skills practice experiences, and submit a post-event evaluation. If a participant is unable to complete all components of the training for any reason, the participant is not eligible to receive a certificate. In order to complete or remediate any missing requirements, the participant would have to re-register and pay for the training again at a future offering.

Who Should Participate:  It is the ideal course for faculty, instructors, and/or preceptors who want to improve their ability to engage teams of learners; introduce IPE concepts and skills; support learners in the development of knowledge, perceptions, and skills for collaborative care; and measure outcomes of IPE learning activities.

The Rapid Teaming in Experiential Learning Environments Certificate Course delves into the dynamic world of teaming in healthcare. Teaming, as a verb, encapsulates the dynamic, and fluid nature of individuals coming together to achieve common visions and goals. Rapid teaming is done in fast-paced environments, in which traditional team structures are often elusive, thus, the ability to rapidly form and collaborate within diverse teams is paramount. Teaming is about surviving in a constantly changing landscape while also thriving and achieving outstanding results.

In this course, designed for faculty and preceptors, we explore the concept of teaming as an individual and team learning process beyond traditional team boundaries. We recognize the challenges of assembling stable teams for learners and healthcare professionals in experiential learning environments. This course emphasizes the importance of purposeful interactions where individuals swiftly identify and capitalize on their personal and professional strengths as effective team members, and focuses on instilling essential skills for teaming, such as leading, communicating, self-reflecting, recognizing interdependence, and embracing the perspectives of other team members. Drawing on Team Science principles, participants will become team diagnosticians, capable of recognizing team strengths, weaknesses, and short-term needs. The course offers common, easy-to-understand team effectiveness principles and strategies that serve as a shared mental model for all team members.

Join us to equip yourself with the knowledge, skills, and flexibility needed to navigate the challenges of rapid teaming in today’s healthcare environment. Upon completing the 12-hour certificate course of pre-course work and live virtual training, you will be able to apply newly learned techniques during rapid teaming. You will also be able to effectively train learners to become productive members of dynamic healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes through rapid collaboration, communication, and coordination.
