Detailed Description and Purpose of the IPE Experience

One Health Quest is an engaging and educational collaborative board game designed for interprofessional teams of students. Its primary purpose is to explore the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health through interactive gameplay and interprofessional learning.

Overview:

Objective: Teams of students will work together to match human health information, animal health information, and environmental factors to different scenarios presented in the game.
Process: Players will analyze case studies where they must consider how human activities, animal health, and environmental conditions interact and influence each other.
Diagnoses: Each team will collaborate to formulate diagnoses or recommendations based on their understanding of One Health principles.
Debrief: After gameplay, there will be a facilitated debriefing session. This session aims to discuss concepts of One Health and Interprofessional Education (IPE), encouraging reflection on the interconnected nature of health and the importance of collaborative approaches.
Assessment: Students will complete a post-event survey to evaluate their learning experience and gather feedback on the game's effectiveness in teaching One Health concepts.

Learning Objectives:

1. Foster an understanding of the One Health approach, emphasizing the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health.
2. Encourage teamwork and collaboration among students from diverse disciplines.
Promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the context of complex health challenges.
3. Raise awareness of the role of interprofessional collaboration in addressing global health issues.

By engaging in the "One Health Quest" game, students not only deepen their knowledge of interconnected health systems but also develop skills essential for effective teamwork and decision-making in real-world healthcare scenarios.
