STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications System


  • When will the STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications System be used?

    The system will only be used to reach you in the event of a campus or regional emergency as defined by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center officials.



  • Will the contact information I supply be used for any other purpose?

    No, your information is only used for STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications in the event of a campus or regional emergency.



  • Will I receive STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications if I don’t "sign up"?

    The STAT! Alert Emergency Notification database is pre-loaded with the primary phone number listed for you in the TTUHSC student or employee information databases. This number, however, may not be the most appropriate number for use in an emergency situation, so TTUHSC strongly recommends that you provide the best emergency notification contact information by signing up at www.ttuhsc.edu/emergency.



  • How often can I change my contact information for STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications?


    You may change your information as often as necessary by visiting www.ttuhsc.edu/emergency.



  • Can I opt-out of STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications?

    You may opt-out of all STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications, except for email notifications, by updating your STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications preferences at www.ttuhsc.edu/emergency.


    Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center strongly recommends that you provide at least one phone number.



  • What is the Location information used for?

    Students, faculty, and staff will receive STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications applicable to their primary location and any other locations they have selected for STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications.



  • Can I be notified via text messaging?

    Yes, you can supply a text messaging number as part of your contact information on this portal.

    After you have supplied the text messaging number, you will receive one of the following confirmations within 3 days:

    If your service provider users SMS-based text messaging, you’ll receive the following confirmation text message from sender 23177 or 63079:

    Texas Tech HSC: You are now confirmed to receive alerts from us. More info text reply "HELP" or "STOP ttuhsc" to opt-out.

    If your service provider uses email/SMTP text messaging, you will receive the following confirmation message:

    You are now confirmed to receive alerts from us. No reply is required from you at this time. Thank you.

    NOTE: Text message sender 23177 and 63079 are for STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications only.



  • Why did I receive a text message saying that I am now confirmed to receive alerts?

    After you supply a phone listing where you would like to receive text messaging, the STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications system will automatically send a text message to your mobile phone to confirm your request. You will receive the confirmation message within 3 business days.



  • What will the confirmation text message say?

    If your service provider uses SMS-based text messaging, you will receive the following confirmation text message from sender 23177 or 63079 within 3 business days:


    Texas Tech HSC: You are now confirmed to receive alerts from us. More info text reply "HELP" or "STOP ttuhsc" to opt-out.


    If your service provider uses email/SMTP text messaging, you will receive the following confirmation message within 3 business days:

  • I did not receive a confirmation message. What happened?

    Please check with your mobile phone provider to find out if your device accepts text messages. You may also want to check with your provider to see if text messaging has been enabled. You may need to subscribe to a text messaging plan in order to receive or reply to text messages.

    If your service provider uses SMS-based text messaging, you may test to make sure you are subscribed to receive STAT! Alert texts by texting the words “SUBSCRIBE TTUHSC” to 23177 or 63079. You will receive a reply with the following:

    Texas Tech HSC: This phone number has already been opted in. More info text reply "HELP" or "STOP ttuhsc" to opt-out.

    If your service provider uses email/SMTP text messaging, you will need to contact the IT Solution Center and submit a work order asking that the STAT! Alert Emergency Notification System database administrator check your text messaging settings.

    NOTE: Text message sender 23177 and 63079 are for STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications only.



  • I did not receive a confirmation message because my phone wasn’t text enabled. I have since contacted my mobile phone provider to enable it. Do I need another confirmation message sent?

    No. If your SMS phone was already submitted to our database, you should be confirmed to receive SMS alerts from us. However, you may also test to find out by texting the words “SUBSCRIBE TTUHSC” to 23177 or 63079 and you will receive a reply with the following:


    Texas Tech HSC: This phone number has already been opted in. More info text reply "HELP" or "STOP ttuhsc" to opt-out.



  • How do I check to make sure I have subscribed to receive STAT! Alert text messages?

    First, you need to make sure that you have supplied your text messaging number and have opted to receive STAT! Alert text messages as part of your communication profile on this portal.

    Second, you want to make sure text messaging is enabled for your device. If you are unsure, check with your mobile phone provider. You may need to subscribe to a text messaging plan in order to receive or reply to text messages

    After you have verified you have supplied your text messaging number and opted in as part of your communication profile on this portal and you are sure texting is enabled for your device, you can perform one of the following checks:

    If your service provider uses SMS-based text messaging, you may can test to make sure you are subscribed to receive STAT! Alert texts by texting the words “SUBSCRIBE TTUHSC” to 23177 or 63079.

    If you are subscribed, you will receive the following message.You will receive a reply with the following:

    Texas Tech HSC: This phone number has already been opted in. More info text reply "HELP" or "STOP ttuhsc" to opt-out.

    If your service provider uses email/SMTP text messaging, you will need to contact the IT Solution Center and submit a work order asking that the STAT! Alert Emergency Notification System database administrator check your text messaging settings.

  • Will I receive an email notification?

    Yes, emails are sent to your Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center email account provided to you. The system does not support email addresses other than your TTUHSC account.



  • Will campus departments (office phones) be included in STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications?

    Yes. Please do not enter TTUHSC campus telephone numbers. TTUHSC main departmental numbers will be included automatically and contacted in the event of an emergency.



  • Can I receive notifications by more than one method?

    Yes, you will receive an email notification in the event of an emergency. Additionally, you can select to be notified by voice, text messaging, and TTY/TDD services.



  • What is TTY/TDD?

    A TTY is a special device that lets people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired use the telephone to communicate, by allowing them to type text messages. A TTY is required at both ends of the conversation in order to communicate. TDD - Telecommunication Device for the Deaf



  • Does the system support TTY/TDD devices for the hearing impaired?

    Yes, you can supply a TTY/TDD number.



  • What other campus safety and emergency procedures are in place?

    Campus safety and emergency procedures and information can be found on the TTUHSC Emergency Preparedness web site at www.ttuhsc.edu/emergency. This web site is intended to inform the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center community about what to do in advance of, during, and after an emergency.



Outreach Notifications

  • What are Outreach Notifications?

    Outreach Notifications are messages sent for informational purposes to those individuals who have opted to receive messaged related to that outreach group.


    For example, if you have opted into receiving Outreach Notifications for IT Notifications, you will receive messaged about IT resource outages.


    Outreach Notifications will NEVER be used emergency purposes. STAT! Alert Emergency Notifications are used for emergency messages..



  • Will the contact information I supply be used for any other purpose?

    No, your information is only used for those Outreach Notifications groups you have opted into receiving messages from.


  • Will I receive Outreach Notifications if I don’t "sign up" or “opt-in”?

    No, you will only receive Outreach Notifications for those groups you have signed up for or opted into.



  • How often can I change my contact information for Outreach Notifications?

    You may change your information as often as necessary by visiting http://app4.ttuhsc.edu/hscprofile



  • Can I opt-out of Outreach Notifications?

    You may opt-out of all Outreach Notifications at any time by updating your Outreach Notifications preferences at http://app4.ttuhsc.edu/hscprofile.
