Emerging Leaders is a six-session program designed to provide a functional knowledge of effective leadership skills to team members with less than three years of TTUHSC supervisory experience. The program focuses on developing leadership skills such as communication, conflict resolution, managing change and coaching through understanding and practical applications.

Learning Objectives

Six Dimensions of an Effective Team Leader:
After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:
• Identify six dimensions of an effective team leader
• Determine areas for professional development to improve their effectiveness as a leader
• Create an Action Plan for developing any identified areas needing strengthening
Six Types of Working Genius:
After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:
• Identify the talents they possess
• Recognize where the influence of their working geniuses is most beneficial to the team
• Explain how their areas of working genius and working frustrations impact their leadership ability
Versatile Communication:

• Identify the four social styles
• Modify their own behavior to reduce relationship tension and communicate more easily and effectively with others

• Identify the five styles of conflict resolution from the Thomas-Kilmann conflict model

The Ethical Global Engagement Microcredential affords students the opportunity to participate in a TTUHSC-sponsored International Program while addressing the essential principles and practices necessary for responsible and impactful global engagement. This microcredential emphasizes the critical importance of ensuring short-term experiences in global health (STEGHs) are ethical and rooted in the principles of the Brocher Declaration, including mutual partnership, and accountability when engaging with communities from diverse cultural and socioeconomic contexts.
The Ethical Global Engagement microcredential covers key principles that should guide all global health engagement. It underscores the importance of collaborative relationships, with bidirectional input and learning, ensuring that host communities are defining the conditions of any short-term engagement. It highlights the necessity of sustainable projects that build local capacity, aligning with the host community's health priorities and contributing to the strengthening of local health systems. Additionally, it emphasizes compliance with applicable laws and ethical standards, ensuring that all global health initiatives are conducted with humility, cultural sensitivity, and respect for all involved.
Upon completion of this microcredential, participants will be prepared to engage in future global initiatives ethically and with accountability, fostering positive, sustainable change, and reducing health disparities in the communities they serve.

Mastery Requirements:

  • Complete the Ethics Module available within the International Programs Predeparture Modules and submit the certificate of completion.
  • Apply for and successfully complete a TTUHSC­sponsored International Program for Students.
  • Complete the TTUHSC International Programs Reflection Guide and download a summary of the responses and activities from the Reflection Guide. Students who complete at least 75% of the Reflection Guide will be deemed eligible.
  • Complete a culminating Photo Voice project that visually and narratively demonstrates how participation in the international program met selected learning objectives. The project will be evaluated by the Office of Global Health using a standardized rubric. Students who receive a score of 75 or higher will be deemed eligible.

The Global Perspectives Microcredential is designed to equip students and professionals with the skills needed to meet this challenge by encouraging them to broaden and diversify their perspectives, ultimately enhancing their professional competence and proficiency. Through a series of curated lectures, films, panel discussions, and reflective engagement with books and other media, this microcredential encourages learners to critically examine their own beliefs, assumptions, and preferences while gaining insight into the experiences and cultures of others. Learning Objectives

The Leadership Foundation Program aims to develop participants' leadership potential by providing them with the necessary tools, skills, and knowledge to become effective and inspiring leaders. The program emphasizes roles leaders may be required to assume, communication, conflict management and resolution, team-building, and enhancing leadership presence.

Principles of Leadership: The objective is for each participant to understand the foundations of leadership.

A self¬-focused program designed to build and refine leadership effectiveness. This program’s length is six months with new cohorts beginning in January and July every year. Program type can be described as intensive; including multiple readings, journaling, and self-reflection. Likely participant profile may be team members who have completed the Emerging Leaders program or are in a current leadership role and have been a supervisor for over three years.
