GET FiT Lubbock (GFL) is a fun competition to help you meet your fitness and weight goals. The GFL competition includes exercise and weight loss activities, encouragement and support from health and fitness professionals, free GET FiT lectures and much more. Teams compete for points based on time spent in fitness activities, pounds lost, attendance at GET FiT lectures, and participation in community run/walk events. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams and top three individual point earners per gender and age group. Top How do I GET FiT? Build a team of people committed to working on their personal health and fitness. Your team members can be co-workers, church members, social club members…that is totally up to you! Elect a team leader. Complete on-line team and individual registration, and get moving. Track your exercise/activity time and weight loss and report results on-line. Members earn points per minute of exercise and percent of weight loss. Bonus points are awarded for attending a lecture or participating in a community walk/run. Compete for the most points. Win awards and prizes. Top How do I report participation? Team members log in to their individual profiles and report weekly activity to their team captain. The captain certifies each member’s activity time for the past week and submits it to the contest via www.healthylubbock.org/getfit. Each team determines the best way to report to their captain. The honor system prevails! Top How do I weigh in and will my weight be shown to everyone? Your weight is never displayed on a public page. Only you and your team captain will see your actual weight. You do have the option to also hide your weight from your team captain. However, doing so requires you to report your own weight when you weigh in. Your team captain will not be able to enter it for you. You may weigh at home, work, or wherever you find a scale. You should weight each week. If you do not weigh in on a particular week, use the previous week's weight. You should weigh on the same day each week, at the same time of day and on the same scale. You will not lose points for going above your starting weight. I.E. Overall points received for percent of weight loss will never go below zero. Top How is scoring handled? Points are received for exercise, percent weight loss, and events attended. For team participation, team points are totaled and divided by the number of members on the team. For individuals, the entire point total will be used. Top Who can participate? The GET FiT Lubbock health and fitness competition is open to all adult residents of Lubbock and surrounding communities (18 years+). Top How much does it cost to participate? The GET FiT Lubbock participation fees vary by contest, (See contest rules for specifics). Fees support Healthy Lubbock and its mission, and must be paid before the start of the contest.
